On July 10, 2026, the four UK Chief Medical Officers published a refresh of their physical activity guidelines. The headline is what did not change: the weekly cardio target held. What moved is the emphasis, and it moved toward strength, toward the harm of sitting even in people who exercise, toward daily movement, and toward protecting muscle for the growing number of people on GLP-1 weight-loss drugs.
