The thinking behind the teaching.

I’m Chris Zant. I’m the chief author and lead coach of the Performance Optimization Coaching Certification, and a co-owner of it. This is where the rest of my thinking lives.

Away from the curriculum I write about the same problem in plainer terms: how to make complicated health ideas useful on an ordinary Tuesday, for someone with a job, a family, and a life already in progress. That work has a name, Balanced Longevity™, and it is mine and independent.

The connection

From a method carried in practice to a curriculum you can be graded on.

The certification is Jay Campbell’s life’s work. My job was to turn a method he had carried in coaching and conversation for two decades into something teachable and testable, fifteen modules and 107 sections that build in sequence, with assessment that means something when you pass it.

Structuring it that way forced every claim into the open, which is exactly how I prefer to work. Where the evidence was strong we said so. Where it was thin, we said that too, and taught you how to tell the difference.

The philosophy I live by

No pillar comes first.  I advance the whole human.

The certification is Jay’s. Balanced Longevity™ is mine, and it is what I believe and embody, not a product, a practice. Meals, Movement, Mind, and Molecules aren’t a ranking; they’re one balanced system. Evidence-graded, built on floors you hold and flex you choose.

Meet the person

I rebuilt in the middle of my life, not instead of it.

At thirty-one a badly herniated disc took the choice out of my hands, and the physical therapy and core work that followed never really ended. By thirty-eight I could engineer an outcome for everyone but myself. The rebuild happened around a consulting career, a marriage, and children, in the hours that were actually available, which is the only reason I trust it enough to teach it.

Nothing about that was linear. There were years of correcting course, and a long stretch of getting the hormonal layer wrong before I got it right. That experience is most of my judgment. It is also why I write with the uncertainty left in.

At 31A badly herniated disc, and years of physical therapy, core training, and alternative medicine that will stay with me for life.
At 38A body I had stopped paying attention to, and the decision to rebuild without pausing the rest of my life.
At 50The Colorado Triple Bypass, followed by two 1,000-mile Ride Across Britain crossings and a week in the French Alps.
30 yrsAdvising pharma, providers, regulators and payors on complex health systems, which is where the analytical habit comes from.
